# Collagen, skin, hair and gene data

> Reading list — Evertrue Aesthetics — The Evertrue Aesthetics reading list: GHK-Cu collagen and skin reviews, a skin-penetration experiment, hair studies and the GHK gene-expression analysis.

**Reading list**

The papers differ in more than their outcomes. These are the differences I would take into the next conversation about copper peptides.

## Skin and delivery

Start with the [collagen-synthesis experiment in human fibroblast cultures](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3169264/) for a definite cellular result. The [skin-regeneration review](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4508379/) gathers clinical and cell findings; the [anti-wrinkle review](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11830136/) puts skin permeability beside the cosmetic argument. I regard the [human-skin penetration experiment](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3016279/) as a particularly useful companion to both.

## Hair and compound identity

The [human hair-count trial](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4969472/) tested a complex of GHK and 5-aminolevulinic acid. The [isolated-follicle and cell study](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17703734/) tested the related compound AHK-Cu. Their results have different owners in a very literal sense: different preparations, studied in different settings.

## Broader biological arguments

The [gene-data review](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6073405/) is where the large expression figures and repair-related gene sets enter the discussion. The [tissue-remodeling review](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18644225/) gathers a broad range of human and animal work. I appreciate their scope most when it sharpens my question about a particular outcome.
